About This Gin

Started in the 1830’s, Tanqueray is a gin steeped in history. Widely available, and a staple on every good supermarket shelf, this surely has to be a go to choice for gin lovers on their weekly shop. Tanqueray has won multiple awards throughout it’s long history , and is often known as the ‘bartenders choice.’

Our Opinion

Tanqueray is one of our first firm favourites. We still remember browsing the supermarket shelves as a student, and feeling sophisticated as we walked past the own brands, and headed towards the Tanq (obviously only when it was on special offer)! It was noticeably nicer that anything we’d tried before, and it was readily available – bonus! If you want a great London Dry and a fair price – look no further!

About This Gin

Tesco’s own brand London Dry gin.

Our Opinion

In the supermarket stakes, this one does not take the biscuit. It’s pretty uninspiring and definitely not exciting. I mean, if someone handed us me one of these after a hard day at, we’d drink it, but it certainly wouldn’t be exciting. If you want something to really treat yourself, we’d recommend looking elsewhere. We wouldn’t say it is an overly memorable gin, although, it’s not a particularly clean spirit as you certainly remember you had it the morning after. For the price though, it’s worth buying to use in gin-flavoured recipes or if you have an unexpected visit from your least favourite Great Aunt…
